Many a poet and songwriter has tried to capture the essence of June. From Henry Wadsworth Longfellow to Rodgers and Hammerstein, writers have celebrated the beauty and romance of June; blossoming trees and plants, buzzing bees, couples tying the knot, and all the possibilities of summer that lie ahead. In the Northern Hemisphere, June brings the summer solstice, the longest days of the year, and more sunshine than any other month. In June, baseball season is in full swing, students on break are looking for summer jobs, and the fathers and father figures in our lives are honored on a special day. From the sunny paint color chip to the bookmark featuring a vibrant bouquet of fresh-cut rose blooms, I hope you enjoy this June-inspired grouping of found items. The Bookmark Project is an ongoing effort by Friends Bookstore volunteers to collect all items left in donated books. We are incredibly grateful to our book donors as they allow us to offer gently used books to the public at affordable prices which in turn allows us to fund major library programs and projects.
