Funded Library Projects/ Events
Each year, the Friends fund over $50,000 in library programming, in addition to ongoing yearly initiatives and special projects throughout the year. Below are just a few of the highlights of our funded projects and events at the Boca Raton Public Library.
Friends fund upgraded AWE Literacy Stations
April 2024
The Friends have been funding the library's AWE Literacy Stations at both libraries since 2022. These are all-in-one computer stations containing 175 games in reading and STEM for children ages 2-12. In April 2024, Friends funding upgraded the (4) original statios at the downtown library with many new software titles.

Summer reading is coming to the BRPL

Our library will rock this summer with a new line-up of summer reading programming funded by the Friends, this year with a sponsorship by Boyd, Richards, Parker & Colonnelli, PL, and a grant from the Junior League of Boca Raton, our community partners! Enroll now and join the kick-off party on Saturday, June 9th from 10 am-12 pm at the Spanish River Library for fun family activities!
Children's Author, Bob Shea, comes to BRPL!

Children's book author and illustrator, Bob Shea, visited the Boca Raton Public Library on May 19th for a talk and book signing with community families, courtesy of the Friends! The Friends were proud to sponsor this event as part of the library's early literacy initiative program.
Graduation Ceremony for 1000 Books Early Literacy Program

The library's 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program celebrated its 2nd year graduates in a May 11, 2018 ceremony funded by the Friends. Friends President, Cyndi Bloom; Boca Raton City Councilwoman, Monica Mayotte; and Library Advisory Board chairwoman, Renee McCabe Johnson, attended the ceremony.
Family Book Brunch

Shout out to library staff, Lindy Harvey, Amanda Liebl, Kat Green, Madeleine Silver, Amanda Amor and Terry Rockett, for putting together the library's 1st Annual Family Book Club Brunch! Funded by the Friends in the past as the annual Mother Daughter tea, participants in this event, now for families, received a copy of "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle, and engaged in a book discussion, fun activities and brunch, at the library.
Teen Tech Week 2018

The Friends are proud to once again fund Teen Tech Week, a nationwide initiative to encourage teens to take advantage of the digital tools offered through the library to become content creators. Max LaMura of BRPL's Program Services led the way again this year, with classes on working with drones, and programming Sphero robots during Teen Tech Week 2018 (March 4-10).
