A 2019-2020 Season Recap

Thanks to you, our valued Friends Members and supporters, we are proud to have brought you a most succes 2019-20 season. Here are some of the highlights we enjoyed together: Under the supervision of Krista Maki, Program Chairperson and longtime Board Member and thanks to the help of our amazing team of volunteers, here are the free public Sunday Speaker and Sunday Matinee events we brought to you this past season:

SUNDAY SPEAKERS (Speaker Series Manager, Faith Batt)

In September, we kicked off our season with Anne Goldberg, better known as "The Savvy Senior," a lifestyle consultant, writer, videographer and storyteller. In October, we brought you Deborah Shlian, MD, MBA, Author and her husband and partner, Joel, who discussed their book "Rabbit in the Moon", an international thriller set in the weeks leading up to the massacre in Tiananmen Square. In November, the Friends welcomed world-renowned, Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, MD, MPH, FAAP, a Pediatrician, Scientist, Activist and Author of "What the Eyes Don't See." Dr. Attisha is one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World for her role in uncovering the Flint Water Crisis and leading recovery efforts. In December, we had a special evening presentation by Robert Macomber, Maritime Author, Lecturer and TV Commentator who discussed the unique subject of "Yachts That Went To War." For more information on Robert Macomber's books, go to http://www.robertmacomber.com/

In January, we had two presentations by Florida's History Detective, Author, Speaker and Historian, Sally Ling. Sally presented documentaries she co-produced with WLRN, "Prohibition and the South Florida Connection" and "Boca Raton: The Secret Weapon That Won WWII." Also in February we were dazzled by Mind Odyssey's Educator and Speaker, Geoff Kashdan who presented the history of the last of the Romanov tsars and their fabulous Faberge eggs. Check out our article about this event here.
