About the Friends

Formed in 1990 by local citizens, the Friends is a non-profit volunteer and membership organization that supports and enhances the value of the Boca Raton Public Library as it serves our community.

The Friends raise funds for major library projects, such as the library’s bookmobile for outreach to underserved communities in Boca Raton, the award-winning Storywalk trails at public parks, and the Butterfly Garden at Pondhawk Natural Area. We donate books from our bookstore to stock bookshelves at community centers, as well as participate in book giveaways at organizations such as Boca Helping Hands and Twin Palms Center for the Disabled.  Every year, we contribute funding to the library’s annual summer reading program, and we continue to provide funding for library special programs, including literacy backpacks, online databases, and book clubs for all ages.

We raise funds through membership dues, donations, and bookstore sales.

Visit our Membership page to sign up, visit our Volunteer page to become involved,  or visit our Support Us page to learn how you can contribute to our organization.
